It’s really hard to navigate what’s safe to do anymore. Who is it okay to be around? Can you trust that the people around you have been safe and smart with their decisions in order to protect themselves and you from getting COVID-19?
I think it’s hard knowing I can’t control what everyone else is doing; therefore, I don’t know who I can trust to be around.
I know several people that have had or currently have COVID-19. Especially now that I know people that have personally been affected I feel like I need to protect the people around me even more.
My anxiety has been at an all-time high lately, but as I’ve been reading through Mark something really stuck out to me in chapter 4.
“A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?'” – Mark 4:37-38
Three days before I read this verse, I journaled about how mad I was at God for things that were happening in my life and in those around me. Did He even care that I am struggling to keep my head above the water?
He begs me to trust Him, but I don’t really want to. I trusted that this year was going to be different than it has been. What He’s really asking of me is to trust that His plan is greater than my own. We can’t control what’s going on around us, but we can trust Him.
Jesus wasn’t threatened by the storm. In fact, he slept through it. Or at least he tried to before he was woken up by the disciples.
“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples ‘Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?'” – Mark 4:39-40
We can’t control the storm; however, we can control how we react to the storm. My hope is that I become so trusting that I can rest in the storm too. We can rest in the comfort of our Savior.
How are you navigating these storms? I would love to hear below!
