It’s definitely a psychological thriller. Halfway through the book I was reanalyzing everything I knew about the people I had just gotten to know the first couple hundred pages. There are two sides to every story, but which one is right? How do you know what is true of someone’s life?
This is a Reese’s Book Club pick too! I can 1000% see this becoming a movie in years to come. Also, shoutout to Haley Lorimer for this rec because I loved reading it on my vacation this summer.
Rating: 4.5/5 stars. A truly shocking read.
Summary: Amber Patterson is WILD AND CRAZY AND WANTS TO BE RICH. She works hard to learn everything about Jackson Parrish and his beautiful wife, Daphne Parrish. Amber learns Jackson’s likes, dislikes, all that she can to try and grow close to him.
Amber’s envy for Daphne Parrish continually grows as she befriends her. Amber and Daphne become extremely close as Daphne brings Amber in to a very exclusive social circle. Amber feels like she deserves the life Daphne has. Daphne strikes her as ungrateful for the luxurious life she inhabits, and Amber has a plan to strip her from it all.
Lots of twists take place that I won’t spoil because it’s just that shocking, but I truly didn’t expect what happens halfway through the book.
For Fans Of: The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. Another book that was such a surprising, quick read thriller.
