Some Thoughts on the Election.

Good morning friends!

Happy election day. For a lot of people this day isn’t happy. This day can be filled with fear, anxiety, uncertainty… the list goes on.

Is there a certain candidate I want to win? Yes. Am I going to put all my hopes and dreams into this one person? Nope. Not even a little bit. At the end of the day these people are broken sinners like me. They will fail me. They will be imperfect. Both candidates will be.

It’s been an emotion-filled year. If the candidate that I voted for loses, I will pray for the one that wins. I will not bash them all over social media. I have to remember Whose I am. He created both of these people. They are broken people, but they are made in His image.

I don’t have all the right words, but I hope we love everyone really well regardless of the outcome.

In a podcast I listened to last night, Gabe Lyons said if you don’t feel conflicted about who you voted for then you probably haven’t done your research on the candidates. They’re both imperfect. Their plans are imperfect. So naturally, that leads to conflict within us.

Today I’m praying the best man for the job to win. And that might not be the candidate I voted for. Regardless of who wins, we have to hold our leaders accountable. We have to work toward unity.

If you need some encouragement today, here are a few things I’d encourage you to read / listen to:

  1. Psalm 55
  2. That Sounds Fun Podcast – Episode 256: 2020 US Election with Gabe Lyons
  3. Cross Point 11/1 Message – What The World Needs Now is Gentleness

Love you all! Pray for our country. Pray for our new leader. Pray for God’s will to be done. And go vote!

xo,

msv
