Wow… this book. I read it in 24 hours. 2 of which were in the bathtub, 2 on a plane, and 3 or so by the pool.
The storyline is so captivating. I’ve read similar stories and now all those storylines feel cheap when compared to this one.
Mallory Blessing has been the sidekick and the second choice most of her life, but when her aunt dies and unexpectedly leaves her cottage in Nantucket to her then Mallory’s life shifts forever. She leaves the city and joins a sweet community that welcomes her right in.
When her brother Cooper decides to get married, he asks Mallory if him and his friends can come to Nantucket Labor Day weekend for his bachelor party. She says yes and enters Jake McCloud: Cooper’s best friend. Jake and Mallory are immediately infatuated with each other, but Jake must leave to return to his life and so does Mallory, but they vow to see each other every Labor Day weekend.
Both of them know there isn’t anyone better for them, yet they don’t know how to let go of their separate lives to join together. It then becomes too late and they keep their affair a secret for nearly 3 decades. They never miss a weekend together. They think about each other constantly, yet their worlds turn separately from 362 days out of each year.
You must read. This summer. Right now. So good!
