I ordered this one months and months ago, but I finally started it back in April. I read it really slowly. I needed to soak up all of it piece by piece. I finally finished it and would recommend to everyone. Latasha Morrison gives such incredible steps that we can take to be the bridge for racial reconciliation.

Summary: I love the first line on the back of the book: “Let’s bring the reconciliation power of the Gospel to the racial divide.” Latasha Morrison is an incredible woman and this book really made me want to not just put it back on the shelf and let it get dusty and forget about her words. I shared a little of this a few months ago, but her story about the pregnant woman named Mary Turner that was lynched 100 years ago near my hometown solely because of the color of her skin played in my mind over and over again.
Have I known for a very long time that racism exists? Yes. But I feel like the past two years have been transformative for me because I have started taking the time to learn about the history of racism and how it continues today.
And this book made me realize I needed to have some conversations with people. I needed to become someone that no longer sat silent, but instead voiced the need to right wrongs and love my friends of different races better by being better and someone that could be an ally for them.
Is there a lot I still need to learn? WITHOUT A DOUBT. I know I’m a sinner and will not ever be perfect, but my hope is each and every day I take steps toward being a bridge builder. God hates sin and racism is sin.
Grateful for this book. I can’t spell out all the steps she goes through because she explains them in a way that I never could. Her words are powerful and I encourage you to buy a copy of this book today!
