Mike Todd is a famous pastor that I have heard all sorts of great things about, so I was excited to read this one! I actually saw him speak on The Today Show (back in April aka the darkest and weirdest month of my life that I’m trying to forget about), and after I saw him speak I knew I wanted to order his debut book!
Rating: 4/5 stars. I think it was a good read! There were a few parts where it felt like a little overkill, but overall I liked Mike Todd’s sense of humor and his rationale behind his advice for relationships.
Summary: The divorce rate scares me. It really does. I’m lucky that I don’t have divorced parents, but half of the people my age in the U.S. do have divorced parents, so it’s always interesting to me to read books like this and see how we can learn not only how to choose a life partner, but also make sure the relationship with our spouse lasts forever. Regardless of whether you are a believer or not, no one wants their marriage to end in divorce. Mike Todd gives some helpful tricks and advice for creating a marriage that lasts.
This book has a lot of modern references which I appreciated. A very relatable book. I would say its target demographic is more for people around their 20s or 30s, but it is a good read for anyone. A lot of his advice is applicable to friendships and relationships at work, school, etc. too.
Similar Reads: One of my personal favorite reads from last summer was A Love Letter Life by Jeremy and Audrey Roloff. (Little People, Big World anyone?!) Loved that one. Also am a big fan of Single, Dating, Engaged, Married by Ben Stuart.
